Freeter Ie no Kau
Oct. 19th, 2018 11:22 amSeiji Take (Kazunari Ninomiya) is a young man who quits his job after working for only 3 months. He has no dreams, no will and zero money. He also fights with his father over his ways and then becomes a "hikkimori" - a recluse who never leaves his room. When his mother falls ill due to depression, Seiji is then forced to take a part time job at a construction company. He believes his job is just temporary and acts distant with his co-workers. Seiji then meets on site-supervisor Manamai Chiba (Karina) whose personality is the polar opposite of Seiji's. They have disagreements at first but become more understanding of each other. Through his work Seiji's outlook on life starts to change and he starts to rebuild his life. (asiawiki-2010)

Not a drama I would re-watch but it was a good one and not depressing as I thought, in spite of the heavy topics on it (depression, being job-less, bullying, etc). I like character development stories, and Seiji definitely has one. From being a lazy young guy without a purpose in life to loving his work environment and having a goal in mind. I related a lot to Seiji... I am not specially lazy but I don't know what I love to do and I always wanted to work in a place where coworkers and boss were easy and fun to work with. I appreciate my current job a lot... I like what I do and I like the people I work with, and except for that it is not related to the career I studied, I am satisfied.
Also, his relationship with his mother was both so sweet and sad. Can't imagine to live with someone with depression. To be extremely patient and supportive. On the other hand, his father... Gosh I hated him. His father reminded me so much of my own mother: always worried about the "what would people think", always nagging, never happy with his own son, trying to decide his son's life... it was sometimes to painful to watch. I don't care if his father had the best intentions, I hated him. And I hate what he did with his money (with the student), he was an ass and his final nagging, with the whole "you have to marry xxxx" bothered me so much I am impressed at Seiji, for not yelling at his father like I use to do with my mother. Seiji certainly was a more patient and respectful son that I would ever be.
I like Igawa Haruka in whatever role she plays, and I liked her relationship with her brother. Nino was good too (and very cute!), obviously. Thank God the romance between him and Karina was tiny... MEH at Maru's role. He was a pain and then that scene with the whole accident... No, thank you.
I don't like redeemed characters at the end... characters that were asses for the whole drama and then they repent. Like the neighbor. She was an ass, and again, Seiji was more respectful than I would ever be. To lose that much money! Grrr.
Music is a 10. I love "Kimitte" by Nishino Kana. It was the first song of hers that I liked. "Hatenai Sora" is good too.
**My rating: 8/10**
