Great mystery drama! I follow some reviewer on Twitter and all her tweets about this drama were a bit harsh, like the mystery was good but the execution did not make sense. For that, I wasn't that interested in the drama.. till I've read YR was going to be in the sequel, and of course I had to watch it ^_^

It is true that this drama is flawed, but I enjoyed every minute of it. It is very suspenseful, with creepy characters (most of the times creepy characters are far more enjoyable than nice characters) and a mystery that you can find in any Agatha Christie book. This episode you will suspect of A character; next episode would be B character.

There are many familiar faces and a couple of new faces. Most of the new faces were bad actors, and most of the familiar faces were dead by the end of an episode. I loved that, that there is a new murder every episode, none of them was out of danger, anyone was a possible victim. And of course, anyone was also a possible murderer.

If I had to name a negative point (besides bad acting of some actors) it would be Tanaka Kei's character, Shota-kun. Yes, he was cute but a very unrealistic guy.. too nice, too naive, too pure. And too much in love with Nana-chan. I am almost expecting him to be the murderer... it still could be.

Then there is one of the cops that is like an anime character. How can an homicide detective be afraid of murders and blood and dead bodies? **face-palm**

So there are still many questions unanswered. And that ending was O_O so unexpected.

I wasn't going to watch the SP, because I didn't have any interest in Shota's and Nana's love story, but I surprisingly liked it.

Very good mystery drama, not too heavy since there are funny scenes.

Satoru Fujinuma (Yuki Furukawa) has the special ability of "revival." His special power allows him to travel back in time before terrible incidents occur and right whichever wrong occurred. He travels back in time continually until the incidents are stopped.

Satoru Fujinuma goes back 18 years ago to find out the person who killed his mother. Satoru Fujinuma is sure that his mother’s death is related with a serial murder case that involved victims being children and occurring 18 years ago. (asiawiki-2019)

Boku_Dake_ga_Inai_Machi_(Japanese_Drama)-P1

I've only read the first volume of the manga and have not watched the anime nor the movie, so I can't compare. This series was really good! I was hooked from the very beginning (I did not even read the plot beforehand, so I didn't know what it was all about and had many surprises here and there). The pace of the story was very well done: the series is just 25min long -or less- and in spite of being too short, it was never rush and I've never felt lost in regards to the plot. I think everything was well explained. I do think that the last 3 episodes were not as good as the first 9... I think that what Fujinuma experiences later, starting ep08 (or was it 9?) made the story less exciting as what he lived in the first 7 episodes.

The acting was excellent, especially from the children. And I liked Furukawa's voice in off, it was calm but not bored. There was even one scene where I was moved by young Satoru's tears... I am amazed this boy, Uchikawa Reo, has not a longer filmography! Apparently he was also Ciel Phantomhive in a couple of musicals that I have yet to see (booo, there are no more subbed musicals since the 3rd one...).

This is a mystery-suspense story where family and friends play a big role. Both were important for our main characters. I am grateful this dorama is on Netflix... while I was watching this, I searched for reviews (with no spoilers) and I am surprised there are so many! And all of them positive reviews. I am not used to read so many reviews of a Japanese dorama... our fandom is mostly quiet and not very vocal.

Recommended. I'll start watching the anime tonight, which I've read is not as good as this live action.

When Koichi (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) was 9-years-old, Koichi's father was accused of killing his wife and youngest child. He was also accused of committing suicide. In reality, Koichi's father was framed for the murders and Koichi saw the person who killed his family. He told a cop that his father didn't kill anyone and he saw the killer, but nobody believed him. Afterwards, his relatives called him a liar and he grew up with the nickname of Liar. Koichi eventually moved overseas and changed his name. He became a swindler.

Koichi meets the killer who killed his family and goes back to Japan to take revenge. (asiawiki-2016)

Stories about revenge are the best when they are well done, and this dorama executed it perfectly. I love that all members that are involved in the revenge (the guilty part, the vengeful one) have surnames that start with a number. I think it was a wonderful touch, starting with the MC (Ichinose), then with the leader of the killings (Nishina) and his minions (Rokutanda, Nanao, etc).

The story was sooo good. In every chapter, something is going on. Koichi getting closer to the family, in order to get the one who ordered Koichi's family to be killed. Getting his revenge on the minions who murdered his family, on the one who almost killed him, on the detective who pressured him when he was 9 years-old to lie that his father was the one who murdered the whole family. When it looks like the villains are almost catching with him, Koichi has an ace up his sleeve. I love when the MC is wittier and quicker than the villain.

Kusanagi was excellent as Koichi. You could feel the rage in him, and if it weren't for that tragic past, he would be a good guy. He was satisfied when he could have his revenge, but with those tears, you can only wonder if he was also a bit sad. Ichimura as the main villain was perfectly cast. He does wonder in this kind of role. And all his children were excellent as well (Fujiki Naohito, Yasuda Ken, Yamamoto Mizuki). In conclusion, the Nishina family was perfect.

I think that Mizuhara Kiko is not a good actress but she improved in this one, maybe because she doesn't have any reason to pout (she loves to pout). Thank Heavens she did good, since to me she was the only weak cast when I first started it. And Kikuchi Fuma perhaps, since he is a younger Johnny. I hated his hair, btw. All that bangs in his face... But he also was good as a young hacker.

I like that even though 2 lovely girls were in love with him, he didn't have any time for romance. He cared for both of them, but his main goal is always to clean up his father's name and make the villain suffer. He was perhaps a bit ruthless, but I couldn't help but empathize with him. I think that is all Kusanagi's talent.

That ending was O_O WOW. A whole 10/10 for me!

I am not sure if this would be a re-watch for me, since you can't compare watching this kind of story for the first with watching it for a second time. Nevertheless, if someone asked me to watch it with her/him, I'll gladly do it, since I can't recommend this dorama enough.
