Qing Ming, the Yin-Yang Master, took his master's last wish and went to the Captial Tiandu City to attend the heaven ceremony. Qing Ming started off with Boya, the young nobleman and a warrior, as foes of each other, but later they became the best friends. The two partnered as a team and solved the bizarre cases, uncovered a century-long secret, and saved the world from the dark power. (IMDB-2020)

Another pick based on the song. I was listening to Cdramas/movies OST in Spotify and fell in love with the ED song. The song is so beautiful and poignant, so in my mind, the movie had to be as well.

(I started watching the incorrect YinYang movie at first.. the other one that is also in Netflix. It took me like 20min to realize it wasn't the correct one, I was like, where is the lead actor from Ashes of Love?? And why isn't this movie fitting with the song? I dropped it immediately after checking on Google)

I was hooked within the very first minutes, it was so fast paced and I usually love the bonding between a master and his pupil. Once the Spirit Servants started to fight, I was completely sold. The CGI is amazing; visually it is a breathtaking movie.

The costumes and wigs are all excellent, except for the make-up on He Shou Ye (it was a BIT too much) and sometimes on Qingming (the actor is naturally tanned but sometimes he had that awful white foundation).

I was confused for a bit chunk of the movie, everything is well explained at the end so that is why I had to re-watch it. And i totally didn't notice the actor for the Master and for He Shou Ye was the same till almost the end O_O the power of make-up.

I think the tragic love story of the Empress was very sad, I got teary-eyed; it was all pathetic but sad. Cdrama can certainly do this kind of tragedy so well.

As for the relationship between QingMing and Boya... I gotta say I wasn't sold because there wasn't much development between them. It needed a drama of at least 10 episodes to convince me, but a movie of 2 hours? Nah, this wasn't at all a WangXian relationship like some comments said. They go from enemies to friends in such a short span I wasn't convinced at all that by the end, grumpy Boya was offering to be QingMing's spirit servant.

Needless to say, I fell for Boya and his beautiful eyes/ears. He looked so fine with that black hat <3 A day or 2 before I was dropping Ashes of Love because of the CGI, after finishing this movie, I wanted to see more of Deng Lun so I resume AoL, which wasn't difficuly because by ep05, I was so hooked I couldn't put it down. The magic of Deng Lun <3

Another thing that surprised me pleasantly was that this was based on a Japanese book, and that there is a game about it. I also watched the Japanese movie after this one; story-wise it may be more comprehensible, but visually this one is of course, far more pleasant. When I was watching it I thought Doctor Strange may have been inspired in C-movies, which turned out to be the opposite?? this movie had a plagiarism scandal??

Nevertheless, I can't wait for the sequel.. I hope they truly makeone. And that song at the end... awwww so beautiful, so breathtaking, so touching...

**My rating: 9/10**
