Ryohei Tsukuda (Hiroshi Abe) worked as a researcher at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. He now runs a family-owned factory that manufactures small engines. His daughter Rina (Tao Tsuchiya) is a high school student. He doesn't get along well with his daughter, but the family owned business is improving. Ryohei attempts to develop a rocket engine, which is a lifelong dream for him, but it causes his factory to suffer.
One day, an important client stops ordering from Ryohei's company. He tries to borrow money from the bank, but the bank declines his loan application. To make matters worse, a rival factory sues Ryohei's company for patent infringement. Ryohei and his employees face a dire situation.
At this time, a large company offers a deal to Ryohei. The company wants to buy their patent for 2 billion yen. Ryohei must decide whether to sell the company's patent or follow his dream. (asiawiki-2015)

This is my 4th drama-based on the same author. All of them follow the same pattern: a good man who has bad and powerful people against him. The good man has his nakamas, and after many trials, he wins. Honesty, loyalty and love for what you do over greediness, lies and well, villainy. of course, the hard times are long and painful, but the reward is satisfactory.
"Rikuoh", written by the same author and one of my favorite dramas, has many similarities with SR. First, both are leading by two of the best actors in Japan (but to be honest, I prefer Yakusho Koji's character thank Abe Hiroshi's). Both are presidents of their little companies, both have a dream but not enough money. Both have to deal with injustice and unfairness of banks and greediness of bigger companies. Also, I liked Rikuoh's dream more than I liked SR's... I found the making of a new shoe more interesting and easier to understand than rockets and valves.
Also, both have in common that both president have a teenager son/daughter. I think in this drama, Tsuchiya Tao's character was more or less useless. She was an angry teenager in the first arc, and frankly, quite annoying. Then she finally communicates with her father, but still, she didn't contribute anything to the story, unlike YamaKen's character.
In this drama, the "villains" were all so cartoonish and very annoying, except for Koizumi Kotaro's character, which was quite charming, and I think it was all because of the actor. He never yells (except in the final episode, where it is obvious he was going to lose) and he is always there, smiling that charming but evil smile. I also like the lawyer and Zaizen-san (this actor looked to polish! like a gentleman... I need to see more of him, Kikkawa Koji).
There were some rather cheesy scenes, unlike Rikuoh, and some "traitors" within the company. And I wish there were more significant female roles. There were only two, which were the journalist and one engineer... but other than them, the daughter, the ex-wife, the mother... were more or less insignificant. I wish one of the villain were a woman. Or the lawyer. Or any other important engineer, since it is not a career that only men do.
Definitely a TBS drama: the angles of the camera, the story, the actors... so very TBS (and I love it).
**My rating: 8/10**
