Among my favorite mangas, I have only 3 that have excellent adaptations in anime and live action. And KnT is one of them. While it may have changed several things, I was not bothered about them. And this may be my point of view only, but I think that only people familiar with the story have to watch the movie; otherwise it would seem slow.
What was very well done:
- The Cast: the first time I watched this I was new in the Live Action world. I thought the girl who played Sawako was not sweet enough (at first glance) and that her face was too round (I was somewhat shallow). But very quick Tabe Mikako proves she is a good actress. She did very well and naturally her soft speaking. She is cute looking and has a beautiful smile, just like Sawako. Haruma Miura was excellent cast as Kazehaya; he has the "refreshing" smile Kazehaya has, and it seems he studied his character well, because when he was embarrassed, he also covered his mouth, just like Kazehaya is used to. Kiritani Mirei is the human form of Kurumi-chan; and the girls who played Ayane and Chizu, and the guy who did Ryu look exactly like them.
- The OST: the movie starts with the main theme (Kokuhaku), and I was completely hooked. It is such a beautiful theme, touching and sweet. I love the Knt anime OST, and I was not disappointed with the live action one.
- The pace: Knt is known for being slow-paced. More thoughts than actual talk. Lots of frames, views of the background. It was also done in the movie, making it seem too slow, but because that is the way of the manga and anime, I liked it in the movie.
What was wrong:
- This may seem silly, but Sawako's length of skirt was too short in the movie. Sawako is a prim character; her skirt should have been below her knees. She also puts her shirt above her skirt, not stuck in. And Kazehaya likes to wear sneakers, not sandals, like in the movie (when Sawako plays a ghost).
- Ryu's and Pin's characters were very different from the manga/anime. Specially Pin. In the movie, he is much older and not a comic relief at all. Ryu does not seem too close to Kazehaya, and he is more like a zombie than a quiet, yet perceptive character.
What was totally different:
- The movie is more than 2 hours long. While the first hour and a half was loyal to the manga, the last 30-40 minutes was totally different. And Sawako was very OoC, when she rejects Kazehaya. Kazehaya confesses his feelings directly, no misunderstandings here, and Sawako, bum! no thanks. Something that would have never happened. Her first date with Kazehaya was changed to a failed meeting (I guess necessary to end the movie smoothly).
- Sawako's father. In the movie, he is a musician. Again, not a comic relief.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the live action. I love KnT to death, so I would recommend the movie to people who love the manga and anime was well.

My rating: 9/10
