Kotaki Kyodai to Shikuhakku
Sep. 1st, 2020 03:34 pmA slice of life comedy where Furutachi Kanji and Takito Kenichi play poor brothers Ichiro and Jiro respectively. Older one (Ichiro) is very serious while the younger one (Jiro) is trying to start rental father/uncle service and they have to deal with issues from their clients. (mdl-2020)

It was a nice drama, of 30minutes long each episode. I mean, it has Takito Kenichi as one of the brothers! A seriously underrated actor. And a recurring role for the brilliant Kudo Kankuro. So in that sense, it felt like a drama written by him: it has silly moments but also tender ones... about life and family and love. It is a mostly episodic drama, except that there are things that are revealed here and there, with the final revelation in the final 3 or so.
There are a number of weird characters + weird situations that make you think "only in Japan"... the rental brothers being the main one, but in all, it was sweet most of the times. Not all episodes are great though... it took me till episode 3 to really appreciate this.
Mini-Reunion from both Takito Kenichi and Kudo Kankuro, from Cold Case S2.
**My rating: 7.5/10**
