Ibuki Hiiragi (Masaki Suda) works as an art teacher. He began teaching at his current high school two years ago. He is the homeroom teacher of 3rd Grade A Class. 10 days before graduation day, Ibuki Hiiragi stands in front of his 29 students, including Sakura Kayano (Mei Nagano), and tells them "From now on, you are hostages." The first 3 episodes seemed straight out from a Kanae Minato book. A thriller, where the audience was wondering who was the criminal. And the classroom as well, all leading by the psycho teacher, played wonderfully by Suda Masaki. One episode was "This person is guilty of XXX, but who did YYYY?" so the next episode was all about who did YYYY but once the guilty one was found, it was time of finding out who did XYXY. It was all very compelling and made you wonder what was going to happen.
Unfortunately not all episodes were as good as the first 3. There were a couple of MEH, and then again a couple of OHH. But it wasn't consistent, which disappointed me a little bit. And I think there were too many tears which wasn't always necessary. By episode 9 I was rating this 7.5, but the last episode was really good again, which made me raise my rating.
I like this new bunch of young actors. I can't say they were all good (the worst was definitely the guy from Exile; second worst I guess it was the girl from GMK) but there were many that have potential; like the guy who recorded everything, and Suzuki Jin and Hotta Mayu. And of course the 2 main girls, Nagano Mei and Kamishiraishi Moka; both super cute. I think if they changed roles it could have been better. I think Mei has more of a image where everyone would admire her and Moka more of an average, nice girl.
Another actor I didn't like one bit was the one who portrayed the teacher Takechi. Maybe it was his role, it was a bit cringeworthy.
OST was awesome! It added more suspense to the story.
