Akira to Akira
Oct. 30th, 2017 11:06 amAkira Kaido (Osamu Mukai) comes from a wealthy background. His father ran a large company. Akira Yamazaki (Takumi Saito) comes from a difficult background. His father went bankrupt and their family runaway during the middle of the night. Akira Kaido and Akira Yamazaki are hired at the same bank.
April, 1986, training for new bank employees takes place. Two teams are made to carry out a mission. Akira Kaido and Akira Yamazaki lead the opposing teams. (asiawiki-2017)
I had great expectations for this drama because of: the author of the book this dorama is based on; the cast; that this is from WOWOW; the plot. And I was let down. I think it started ok, I liked the chemistry between Mukai Osamu and Saito Takumi, but their "friendship" never went too deep. I thought they were going to work closer, and they did, but in the final 2 episodes.
The first 7 episodes were slow, too slow. It was building the whole disaster that was up to both Akira to save, but still, these two guys, in spite of being too "smart" and blah blah, took everything slooooowly. Kaido Akira, knowing that he was the rightful heir of the company, decided to not take part of it and watch it how his brother (who was supposed to be "smart" but was blind and painfully manipulated) took the company to ruins. Yamazaki Akira decided to never tell the woman he loved that he loved her, so the girl decides to go to America, meet a guy and marry. For years he kept quiet. That was the biggest fault of both Akira: to decide to keep quiet. Only in the final 2 episodes they both show some personality, after years of being humiliated and keep silence.
The final episode was the best one because they both show their intelligence and save the company, together. Nevertheless, it took them forever.
