Maki Maki (Takako Matsu), Suzume Sebuki (Hikari Mitsushima), Yutaka Iemori (Issei Takahashi) and Tsukasa Beppu (Ryuhei Matsuda) happen to all meet. They form a quartet and begin to live together in Karuizawa during the winter. There is a big hidden secret.
Maki Maki plays the lead violin in the quartet. She has family and only goes to Karuizawa on the weekends for performances. She has a negative personality and barely gives her opinions.
Suzume Sebuki plays the cello in the quartet. She is unemployed. Yutaka Iemori plays the viola in the quartet.
Tsukasa Beppu plays the second violin in the quartet. He comes from a musical family and also works at a donut company. He is the leader of the quartet and provides his grandfather's villa as a base for the quartet. Tsukasa Beppu has secrets. (asiawiki-2017)

I think I was expecting too much. Not that it was bad nor average. It was good. BUT.... but I was hoping for a musical drama (it was like, 2% musical). With a bit of mystery (the mystery was good, not OH WOW, but it was good and nothing melodramatic). With a heartfelt quartet of friends (the friendship was there, but not that deep).
With such a cast... I think they were almost wasted. I mean, the girls were ok. I may have expected more heartbreaking moments in Suzume-chan story, since Mitsushima Hikari is simply the best at heartbreaking scenes, but there wasn't. Yes, she was quirky. But not a lovable quirky, just quirky. Maki-san was mysterious, she forms a nice friendship with Suzume-chan.
As for the guys... oh boy. I wanted more. But they weren't that important, they were just there. This is my first time watching Matsuda Ryohei, and I wasn't impressed. I am not saying he is a bad actor; he is good, but he didn't make any impression on me. I thought a couple of times if his character would have been more lovable if Eita has played it... Considering that the writer works with the same talented cast every now and then... Eita in Saikou no Rikon and Soredemo, Ikite Yuku; Hikari in Soredemo, Ikite Yuku and Woman; Machiko Ono/Ayano Go in "Mother" and Saikou no Rikon, etc...
I like that all mysterious secrets were not that dramatic, nor last that long. Like, Suzume-chan spying on Maki-san didn't last long; Iemori-san with the mob wasn't that dramatic, etc. I also like the ED, of course Matsu Takako has a beautiful voice, but I was surprised at how nice Hikari can sing as well. Again, the boys were just there, they didn't contribute in anything more than being supporting characters.
The ending .... it was a WTH moment when they were in the van and they started singing the ED. And it is like there wasn't a proper closure.
