Rage (Ikari)

A man brutally murders a married couple and leaves behind the words "Ikari" ("Anger") written with their blood. The killer undergoes plastic surgery and flees.

At 3 different locations in Japan, a male stranger appear. People there suspect that the stranger might be the murderer.

At a fishing harbor in Chiba, Yohei Maki (Ken Watanabe) works at the harbor and he has a daughter, Aiko (Aoi Miyazaki). Aiko begins to date Tetsuya Tashiro (Kenichi Matsuyama). Yohei begins to suspect that his daughter's boyfriend might be the killer, because he is using a fake name.

In downtown Tokyo, gay male Yuma Fujita (Satoshi Tsumabuki) works at an advertising agency. He meets Naoto Onishi (Gou Ayano) and they begin to live together. While getting Naoto to open his mind, Yuma begins to suspect Naoto as the killer.

In Okinawa, Izumi Komiya (Suzu Hirose) and her mother move to an isolated island there. One day, she takes a walk and meets Shingo Tanaka (Mirai Moriyama). The young is backpacking alone. Izumi gets close to Shingo, but Shingo asks Izumi to not to tell others about him. (asiawiki-2016)

Anger_(Japanese_Movie)-p2

Or the movie is deeper than my poor brain can handle, or it was pretty confusing. It left me with more questions than answers. And not only that... I can't handle rape in movies and books, and there is one very graphic, so I didn't like this movie as much as I thought I would (the cast!)

The cast is, no doubt, on another level. My boy Ayano Go... he is so good in melancholic characters (and he looks so pretty here too). His scenes with Tsumabaki Satoshi were O_O so graphic. Their story was sad and very dramatic. I don't understand why this kind of story never has a happy ending. I kinda hated it :S I kinda hated how it begins, with a rape. No one can tell me it wasn't a rape, so I could never warmed entirely to their story.

Watanabe ken, Miyazaki Aoi and MatsuKen... was she a nymphomaniac or what? She went to the city because of that? Her love story with MatsuKen happens so quickly it left me wondering why was she crying so hard at the end. Or why didn't she go with him. I didn't like their story :S but it is the one that ends not-soooo-depressing (but it is kinda depressing).

Moriyama Mirai as the care-free guy was good. He does resembles a bit to Ayano Go. Of course, Hirose Suzu's story was the worst, the most disturbing. I don't understand Moriyama's role... did he suffer from multiple personalities? He seems kind and he even cries with the boy, but all the things he does... was he a psycho? And the boy stabs him and then what?

So there is a killer out there, and he could be Ayano Go, MatsuKen or Moriyama. The pic of the killer could be Ayano or Moriyama (they have the same eyes and cheekbones) but I couldn't see MatsuKen in there. And there is where the story has a correlation, in these 3 suspicious guys. Besides that, nothing. They live in different cities, never cross paths, don't meet once in the entire movie. The main them is not Rage, but Distrust.

Not my kind of movie... specially for that rape (or rapes). Can't recommend it either, since it is very dark and not for everybody.

**My rating: 6/10**
